In this discussion we will focus on topics like: writing effective resumes, where and when to apply, what resources are available to students, the importance of your professional network and the type of mindset one should have during this process.

  • Deanna DeVivo (she/her) is the Director of Talent Acquisition at Luminate, where she leads all strategic recruitment and hiring. Throughout her career, Deanna has developed and designed ground up recruitment functions, trained and practices structured hiring, and has hired candidates from early career to the executive level. Deanna is driven by her passion for people, seeking equity and belonging for all, and diversifying teams to include multiple voices and skill sets. Previously Deanna worked at Downtown Music Holdings, GR&F, SONGS Music Publishing, and supported a number of NYCs top technology startups.
  • Nina Tanaka is a recent graduate from the University of Southern California, where she studied Music Industry and Health and Human Sciences. Nina aspires to work in the music industry because she believes in the unique power that music has in healing, inspiring, and uniting generations and its ability to make the world a better place. She has interned at major film studios and music companies including Warner Bros. Pictures, Amazon Studios, Warner Chappell Music, and Sony Music Publishing. This summer, she has been the Music Intern at Walt Disney Animation Studios, where she was also nominated and selected to be part of the Gold Rising Program with the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences. 
  • Tamika Merise is a current senior at Baruch College majoring in marketing and minoring in communications. She has always loved music and wanted to learn about the many different roles that the music industry offers. She has done so by interning in many areas of work including music publishing, publicity, and radio. She has completed internships at the Royalty Network, Warner Chappell Music, Warner Records, and is currently at Sirius XM.
