What makes a song a true sync gem for film or television? What do music supervisors look for when they are pitching and placing songs? Songwriters, artists, musicians, music publishers and record labels are always looking for the next big sync. Land the right one, and it can change the course of a single, an album, or even a career.

WIM LA presents to you a sync critique panel focused around placements in film and TV. In this session, we will playback songs from our WIM members and have our panel share insight into what works (and what doesn’t). Come hear how music supervisors find and place songs and learn what you can do to increase your chances of landing a sync.

Speakers:

Laura Webb (just added!) | President of Webb Worldwide Music

Kat Basolo | Vice President, Creative Synch at Kobalt Music

Yvette Metoyer | Music Supervisor/Owner, Sounds in Color

Tiffany Anders | Music Supervisor

Moderator:

Keiko McTingley | Music Director at APM Music

WIM members are free with RSVP.

If you are not a WIM member but you would like to attend this event, you can purchase a ticket.

Submit your song for critique (WIM members only):

Interested WIM Members have the opportunity to submit their own song for potential review/critique. This is a great chance to get feedback directly from music supervisors and industry creatives. If you’re interested in having your song played and reviewed by the panelists during the session:

1. RSVP to attend the event, and then

2. Submit your .mp3 file to wimla@womeninmusic.org no later than Monday, November 15th.

Please note the following:

 • Songs submitted after the deadline will not be considered

 • You must be present at the session to have your song considered for review

 • Songs will be selected at random and we will accommodate as many as possible; however, it is possible that not everyone will have the opportunity to have their song selected/reviewed due to time constraints; and song submissions are open to WIM Members ONLY.

If you are not a WIM Member but would like to submit a song for critique, please join WIM at www.womeninmusic.org first and then RSVP as a WIM member.

The album was produced by rock icon PJ Harvey and released to critical acclaim by Up Records (alongside Built to Spill and Modest Mouse). Tiffany parlayed her passion for and knowledge of music with work as a music supervisor. Her supervision success continued on television with hit shows like FXX's You're the Worst, Netflix's 90's-set comedy series Everything Sucks! and the lauded drama Sorry for Your Loss. Additionally, she is one of the founders and head curators of Los Angeles' annual Don't Knock the Rock film festival and has contributed in-depth liner notes for the revered reissue record label Rev-Ola, for which she's conducted interviews with Tommy James, Sweetwater, and F.J. McMahon. As testament to her musical aptitude, she also has contributed over 500 album reviews for the largest independent record store in America, Amoeba Music.
