About Shannen and Heels & Handshakes:
Shannen Stewart is the Founder of Heels & Handshakes, an all inclusive networking group for women in the Special Events and Hospitality Industry. As a Nashville native, Shannen graduated from Tennessee Technological University where she earned a Bachelor of Arts & Sciences in Mass Communications. After graduation she moved to Orlando, Florida where she immersed herself in the hospitality industry. When Shannen moved back to Nashville in 2012 she found that she missed having a community of women to lean on. She created Heels & Handshakes in 2013 to ensure that the multitude of women that made up the majority of the hospitality workforce would all have positive and collaborative interactions to enrich their lives both professionally and personally. What started out as ten women meeting for cocktails and conversations has evolved to over 3,000 women in the Middle Tennessee community, and the collaborative spirit has grown with it.
Shannen has received accolades and awards across various aspects of the Hospitality Industry including Nashville Lifestyles Women in Business Recipient (2021) The Nashville Area Chamber of Commerce NELA Awards Hospitality & Tourism Recipient (2019), Meeting Professionals International Tennessee Chapter Supplier of the Year (2019) 100 Leading Persons in Personal Services, Food and Hospitality (2018), Nashville Junior Chamber Leadership Institute Graduate (2016), Finalist for Event Solutions Rising Star Female Award (2015). She currently volunteers for Thistle Farms, West Nashville Dream Center and supports Play Like A Girl. Among her passion for events and connecting women, she loves spending time with her husband, three-year old son and two fur babies.
Heels & Handshakes is a networking group that fosters authentic connections, encourages collaboration, and provides invaluable resources to events industry professionals. With over 220 members and a community of 3k+ women in middle TN, Heels And Handshakes is the premier networking organization.
