WIM LA, in partnership with UCLA Herb Albert School of Music, invites you to an intimate songwriting introduction with Natasha Pasternak on Sunday, March 22. Join Natasha as she takes you on a journey exploring songwriting & creativity.

Natasha Pasternak is an artist in the most honest sense of the word. As a songwriter and composer, to a producer and performer, to a Professor and CEO. You could say she has been making art and hustling since the day she was born.

She spent the first ten years of her life on the sidelines, accompanying her musical mother on tours and only occasionally joining her onstage. But after a mentorship with Juno Award nominee Georgette Fry at 13, she was well-equipped for the many years of shows in coffee shops and bars that lay ahead.

Classical training in acting, voice, musical theatre, and dance (ballet, tap, jazz, and hip hop) at Randolph College for the Performing Arts was the last stop before launching her solo career under her given name, Natasha Pasternak. In 2010, she co-founded the acclaimed indie pop band, Hands & Teeth.

One part Broken Social Scene, one part Arcade Fire, Hands & Teeth dominated festivals across North America (SXSW, POPMontreal, CMW and NXNE to name a few) with the material they created for three records over their four-year career. Their songs found homes locally and internationally, featured on various radio and television stations including the CBC, BBC and MTV.

Moving into production, Pasternak produced and co-arranged the folk-pop band UKAE’s “Morning Story” EP, as well as co-produced and recorded Siânteuse’s cover of “House of The Rising Sun” for the documentary film Yorkville. She has also composed scores for a number of productions, including Judith’s Thompson’s award-winning play Lion in the Streets. In 2016 Natasha lent her vocals for Warner Bros. official trailer for The Legend of Tarzan, now with over 16,000,000 plays.

Natasha is currently located in Los Angeles as an active committee member for Women In Music L.A. (WIM LA), as well she is about to launch her own songwriting workshop/masterclass business, Desert Dream Creative. Over the years Natasha has been selected for various prestigious workshops and mentorships, including ASCAP’s Harold Adamson Workshop. Where she got to work one on one with top industry professionals (Mr. Hudson, Autumn Rowe, Jayson DeZuzio, Nicole Morier, Andrew Cider and Daniel Werman). This past year Pasternak was brought in as a songwriting instructor for the Los Angeles chapter of Jail Guitar Doors, a non-profit bringing music into correctional institutions and at risk communities.

Natasha will be completing her winter quarter lecturing her songwriting course at the Herb Alpert School of Music, UCLA. This summer she will be acting as Assistant Director and lead instructor for UCLA Herb Alpert school of music’s Teen Summer Songwriting Intensive.
