How has A&R research changed over the last 10 years? What kind of data are labels looking at to influence their signing decisions? How has access to this data changed who they are signing? Does this access to data allow them to take more risks? What can you do to stand out and be recognized by labels?

Join us for an intimate discussion with Alyssa Castiglia (A&R Consultant / Artist and Producer Manager) and Branda Ringo (Senior Director of A&R - Warner Chappell Music)

Alyssa Castiglia will detail her exploration into A&R research from her days as an intern at Republic Records, to a 7 year stint starting and overseeing the research department of Island Records, to applying her skills to artist & producer management. From calling record stores, to tracking Tik Tok streams and signings, Alyssa has seen the many different eras of A&R Research and watched how major labels have adjusted their approach.

Brandra Ringo will bring a behind-the-scenes discussion about what it takes to pair off  multi-platinum writers and producers with A-List artists. Brandra received her B.A. degree in Music Business from Columbia College - Chicago before starting her career as an assistant to Motown Records President, Ethiopia Habtemariam. During this time, Brandra worked closely with Sebastian Kole who penned all of Alessia Cara’s first 3 hits. She also worked with songwriters Goldiie (Chris Brown, Ty Dolla $, K. Michelle) & Cardo (Drake, Travis Scott, Kendrick Lamar).
