Women In Music Presents: A&R/Demo Critique Session

WHEN: Thursday, July 20th from 6:30-8:45pm (EST)

WHERE: BMI, 7 World Trade Center, 250 Greenwich St, New York, NY 10007

What is talent? How do you identify and nurture it? Singers, songwriters, producers, musicians, and the creative and business teams around them, can make or break a hit song and in the long run, a career. In this session, we will share invaluable insights on A&R in today’s market by hearing how labels and publishers find and market artists and songs, discussing the contextual instincts that apply to song selection, and learning what A&R's want —and do not want— in songs for hit recording artists.

Additionally, interested WIM Members will have the opportunity to submit their own song for potential review/critique. This is a great chance to learn how to pitch a song and get feedback directly from top A&R representatives from leading labels and publishers.

If you’re interested in having your song played and reviewed by the panelists during the session, first RSVP to attend the event and then submit your .mp3 or .wav file to events@womeninmusic.org by 2pm (EST) on July 18, 2017.

Please note the following:

  • Songs submitted after the deadline will not be considered.
  • You must be present at the event to have your song considered for review.
  • We will select songs at random during the event and will accommodate as many people as possible; however, not everyone will have the opportunity to have their song selected/reviewed.

PANELISTS: TBD

MODERATOR: Tiffany Almy, Counsel, Reed Smith LLP
